Portable Add-Ons for Firefox Portable: Make Your Life Even More Portable!

Portable, portable, portable. That keyword has been mentioned six times. [Errr yeah, recently I really love that word hehehe...]

I feel that any versions of Firefox including the portable one is not complete without Add-Ons. However, I cannot just add every Add-On, especially for the portable version of Firefox. For Firefox Portable, I choose the Add-Ons that support its portability and keep it seemed lightweight.

Here is a long waiting list of the Add-Ons that I recommend for you who like browsing, blogging, taking screenshots, learning source codes, sharing, taking notes, and so on. FYI, I have successfully tested these Add-Ons [for portable Firefox 3.0.1] using my 1GB SanDisk thumbdrive in Windows XP and Vista.

• Web of Trust [WOT]
  This Add-On rates webpages’ security. The rate can be excellent, good, or perhaps dangerous. WOT will warn you if the page you’re entering is dangerous. This can help you browse the Internet securely and selectively.
• Source Viewer Tab
  If you right click on a page and choose to view page source, usually a window will pop-up. I don’t like a new window just only to view the source. Therefore, I choose to install this Add-On so that a new tab is used to view the page source.
• ScribeFire Blog Editor
  Magnificent tool for blogging, except that draft posts in WordPress does not show up in this Add-On.
• Pray Times!
  Just in case I remember everything but praying…
• New Tab Button on Tab Right
  I need New Tab Button when I’m eating while browsing. You know, it’s quite hard to press Ctrl+t at that situation. Anyway, this feature is used by default in Internet Explorer 7.
  By using this Add-On in Firefox, the New Tab Button exist on the right of the rightmost tab.
• Mouseless Browsing
  Mousefull browsing is sometimes boring So why don’t we try mouseless browsing?
  This Add-On is very useful to train typing using the number keys or numpad keys without looking at them. Why? Because… the shortcut to each linked page is marked using number(s).
• Link Alert
  This Add-On gives information about the link that you hover. It will show you a particular cursor if the link opens in new window, installs an Add-On, goes to a secured page, etc.
• Google Notebook
  You can access the online Google Notebook by using this Firefox Add-On. You can also add notes, tags, clips, and so on to your Google Notebook via this Add-On.
• FireShot
  Take screenshots of webpages in your Firefox, then edit them!
• Fire Gestures
  By using this feature, you can use mouse gestures for shortcuts.
• Firefox Universal Uploader (fireuploader)
  Tired of opening certain web pages to upload pictures, videos, or other files? This Add-On can help you.
• Video DownloadHelper
  By using DownloadHelper, you can download everything that is downloadable in Firefox, like pictures and videos.
• DownThemAll
  This really speeds up your download! But you have to rename every files that you want to download… It’s ok though, as long as it’s fast.
• Delicious Bookmarks
  del.icio.us is one of the popular online bookmarking services. With this Add-On, you can add, delete, organize or modify your Delicious bookmarks easily in your Firefox.
• CSSViewer
  This works almost like Chinese Pera-kun. After turning this feature on and hover some part of a webpage, the properties of that part will be shown in a small pop-up.
• Chinese Pera-kun
  Turn this feature on, then hover some Chinese character(s). The definition of the character(s) will pop-up. No need to go to Mandarin-English dictionary website again
