Support Open Source!
Perhaps you wonder why you should support Open Source. Well, there’s one simple answer.
Open Source is Free!
“Free” in this case is in “Freedom” context, not “Free of Charge.” Almost nothing in this world does not cost money, right?
Mostly, Open Source software is available on the Internet. You can download it without being charged for the software [but you have to pay your Internet bill]. If you don’t have Internet connection or your Internet connection sucks, you can find stores selling cheap CD or DVD containing such software. You can also order free CD or DVD [but you have to pay the mailing cost for cheap price]!
You are free to use and spread the software. You are free to see the source code. You can copy, modify, enhance, or fix it if you want. You can also redistribute the modified software, but see the license from the author of the software first.
[But remember, you do so at your own risk!]
Open Source never disappoints you. If you find problems, you can search the community throughout the Internet [ just use Google search engine
] and find or ask for the solution there. If there’s no solution, you can still know why the problems happen. When you know that the problems cannot be fixed, you simply think that’s alright because you don’t pay for the software. [ then you can try for other Open Source one
]
The Open Source community is also a place for you to shout your opinion about the software. You can explain enhancement you want for the software or the source code.
But you know, there are many Open Source applications and operating systems that work very well. In fact, a lot of them can work for computers having low specifications! You can also run the software directly from portable devices such as CD, DVD, and USB flash drive!
So, why don’t you support Open Source?
By using them, you already contribute to the Open Source community. By spreading them, you contribute even more to the community. By shouting your opinion about the software, you also contribute very much to the community. By giving donations to the authors, you have them contribute much more to the community!
Moreover, if you spend your time to make enhancement for the source code, you actually spend your time to contribute to the world!
It’s very easy to contribute to Open Source, isn’t it?
A Little Act of Kindness Goes A Long Way.
You can start to support Open Source anytime. You can have banners and buttons to spread your favourite Open Source applications and operating systems. Just Google to look for the banners and buttons, then place them at your homepage.
Here are some examples.

[If you think there are some other buttons related with Open Source, just let me know.]
